Who this is not for
- During pregnancy or while breastfeeding.
- Anyone with a recent tan, or who cannot avoid the sun for six weeks afterward.
- Anyone taking oral isotretinoin, or who has taken it in the last twelve months.
- Anyone with a history of frequent cold sores, without antiviral cover agreed beforehand.
- Deeper skin tones are assessed individually; the settings differ and some are not offered.
What happens on the day
The face is numbed for an hour beforehand. The treatment itself is warm and prickling, with cold air running throughout, and it takes about twenty minutes of the hour you are here.
The week afterward is the part to plan for: swollen for two days, then dry and flaking for another three to five. This is the one treatment here that costs you a working week, and it is the reason it is on the site with the downtime in bold rather than buried in a paragraph.
Whether it is right for your skin is decided at the consultation, and for some skin types the answer is no.
Aftercare
- Swelling for two days, then dryness and flaking for three to five.
- Ointment and gentle washing only for the first five days.
- No make-up for five days.
- Sunscreen every day for six weeks. This is not optional and it decides the outcome.
