Who this is not for
- During pregnancy or while breastfeeding.
- Anyone with an active skin infection, or a history of severe allergic reaction to hyaluronic acid products.
- Anyone on a blood thinner, without a letter from the prescribing doctor.
- Anyone who has had a dental procedure in the last two weeks.
What happens on the day
The area is numbed with a topical cream, then the gel is placed either with a needle or with a blunt cannula depending on where it is going. You will feel pressure rather than pain once the numbing has worked.
Swelling is normal for a day or two and a bruise is possible for up to a week, so this is not a treatment to have in the same week as something you cannot miss.
The last line of the aftercare above is the one that matters. It describes the rare complication this treatment carries, and the number is answered outside opening hours for exactly that reason.
Aftercare
- Expect swelling for 24 to 48 hours and the possibility of a bruise for up to a week.
- Sleep on your back the first night.
- No gym, alcohol or facials for 48 hours.
- Ring the aftercare line if the area becomes white, cold or increasingly painful.
